Ghosts need houses too, you know…
We can’t see them but they are out there; lonely and lost.
Not this ghost, though. He has a house, a dog and a tree to keep him company in this invisible world of whispered murmurs.
We all need company.
House for a Ghost, Dog and Tree is a proposal for New Orleans. New Orleans, because there are definitely ghosts there.
The house’s stilts stand levitating above any harm.
The creaky floorboards can be replaced, floors become walls, and vice versa. The ghost can move in all directions, and his devoted companions will always follow.
At play, the house is in constant flux, letting you glimpse into the infinite dimension of the ghost world.
Now, create your own ghost house. Don’t forget the dog, and of course, the tree…
Have fun together.

Serban Ionescu (B. 1984 in Romania, lives and works between Brooklyn and Paris) creates boldly-colored, playful, anthropomorphic forms that blur the boundaries between sculpture, furniture and architecture. Much of his work originates from fluid, free-form drawings, which he then translates into three dimensions.
